PepsiCo's Frito-Lay North America division and the National Football League today announced that Dru McCoy and the Barnes Family - longtime Indianapolis Colts fans from Marion, Ind. - are the winners in the search for the NFL's "most fanatical family" and will receive a VIP trip to Super Bowl XLIV.
McCoy and her family were named the NFL's "most fanatical family" after fans around the country cast nearly 400,000 votes in the contest.The family's prize features a five-day/four-night trip to attend Super Bowl XLIV, which will be played Sunday, Feb. 7, at Dolphin Stadium in South Florida. The trip includes round-trip air transportation, hotel accommodations, suite tickets to Super Bowl XLIV, and tickets to the Super Bowl Saturday Night Party and NFL Tailgate Party.
Dru McCoy's husband, Kevin, daughter Kaitlin, mother, Phyllis Barnes, sister Tonee Pieroni, and even brother-in-law Carl - the lone Green Bay Packers fan of the bunch - will all join Dru to travel to South Florida for The Big Game.
McCoy and her family never miss watching a Colts game, and even plan their family get-togethers around game days and decorate their home with Colts memorabilia. McCoy and her family beat out nearly 1,000 other families from around the country who entered the Frito-Lay and the NFL's "Calling All Families" contest this past fall by submitting a photograph of their family on game day and an essay describing why they thought they should be named the NFL's most fanatical family. A panel of judges composed of Frito-Lay and NFL executives then selected eight semi-finalists based on several criteria, including team spirit, enthusiasm for the game and demonstration of family gathering. Each semi-finalist and their families traveled to NFL Films to record a video bringing to life their enthusiasm for their favorite NFL team, and thousands of fans watched the videos online and voted to determine the winner. A new campaign from Frito-Lay and the National Football League is encouraging households to demonstrate their gridiron game-day devotion and prove that they are, in fact, the NFL’s “most fanatical family.” And the sponsoring brands are prepared to reward that enthusiasm with a trip for six to Miami to enjoy Super Bowl XLIV from a VIP suite in Dolphin Stadium. The “Calling All Families” promotion is asking entrants to submit a photo of their families and/or friends in full-on football mode—decked out in NFL gear, or demonstrating their best game faces, or just in position around the tube with snack supplies at the ready. Entrants can upload their original, unretouched photo to a microsite at http://CallingAllFamilies.com after registering with their e-mail address, their NFL team of choice and their favorite Frito-Lay snack.
A judging panel from administrator Project Support Team will select up to 50 photo-essay entries for advancement to the next round.

Jerky Taunts Fuel Beef Jerky Mobile Push »
Beef jerky isn’t usually associated with cutting-edge technology, but one marketer in the category is claiming success with a mobile campaign.
Oberto Sausage Company has picked up 259,454 sweepstakes entries and a surging number of opt-ins during a mobile-and-micro-site campaign for its beef jerky product line that relied on good-natured taunts among male friends. The effort was the first foray into mobile for the Kent, Wash., brand, which is midway through the second part of a three-pronged run that will end this fall.
The first leg of the campaign used the call-to-action, “Text-Taunt-Win,” and ran Jan. 26 through March 15. It appeared on in-store displays, product packaging and at the micro-site Ultimatealphazone.com.
